** ಬಳ್ಳಾರಿಯ ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆಯಿಂದ ತಂಜಾವೂರಿನ ಬೃಹದೀಶ್ವರನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಗೆ: ಒಂದು ಪ್ರವಾಸ ** **- ಮನೋಹರ ಸಿ.ಎಂ., ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆ** ೨೧-೦೬-೨೦೨೬ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ವಾಸ್ತುಶಿಲ್ಪದ ಮೇಲಿನ ಅತಿಯಾದ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಳ್ಳಾರಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸಿರುಗುಪ್ಪ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಪಟ್ಟಣವಾದ ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆಯಿಂದ ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ರಾಜಧಾನಿ ತಂಜಾವೂರಿಗೆ ಸೆಳೆಯಿತು. ಚೋಳರ ಕಲಾ ವೈಭವದ ಪ್ರತೀಕವಾದ ವಿಶ್ವಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಬೃಹದೀಶ್ವರ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಕಣ್ಣಾರೆ ಕಂಡು, ಅದರ ಭವ್ಯ ಇತಿಹಾಸ, ಶಾಸನಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲೆಯನ್ನು ಅರಿಯುವ ನನ್ನ ಬಹುದಿನಗಳ ಕನಸು ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ನನಸಾಯಿತು. **ಭೂಗರ್ಭದಿಂದ ಮುಗಿಲೆತ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ: ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಭವ್ಯ ಇತಿಹಾಸ** ತಂಜಾವೂರನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಭವ್ಯ ಗೋಪುರವನ್ನು ದೂರದಿಂದಲೇ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ನನ್ನ ರೋಮಾಂಚನ ಇಮ್ಮಡಿಯಾಯಿತು. ಕ್ರಿ.ಶ. 1010ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾನ್ ಚೋಳ ರಾಜನಾದ **ಮೊದಲ ರಾಜರಾಜ ಚೋಳ**ನಿಂದ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಸಾವಿರ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಹಳೆಯದಾದ ಇತಿಹಾಸವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಗ್ರಾನೈಟ್ ಶಿಲೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ನಿರ್ಮಿತವಾಗಿರುವ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆ **'ವಿಮಾನ ಗೋಪುರ'**. ಸುಮಾರು 216 ಅಡಿ ಎತ್ತರವಿರುವ ಈ ಗೋಪುರದ ತುತ್ತತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ 'ಕುಂಭಂ' (ಶಿಖರ) ಸುಮಾರು 80 ಟನ್ ತೂಕದ ಒಂದೇ ಕಲ್ಲಿನಿಂದ ಕೆತ್ತಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ! **ಅದ್ಭುತ ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲೆ, ಶಾಸನಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಉಪ-ಸ...
