ಬಳ್ಳಾರಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸಿರುಗುಪ್ಪ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆಯ ದಿವಂಗತ ಕೆ ಪಂಪಣ್ಣ ಮತ್ತು ಹಂಪಮ್ಮ ದಂಪತಿಗಳ ಮೊದಲ ಮಗನಾಗಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಕೆ ಪಿ ವೀರಪ್ಪ 99ರ ಇಳಿವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸರೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಸಾವಲಂಬಿಯಾಗಿ ಜೀವನ ಸಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಪೋಷಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದರೆ ನೀವು ನಂಬಲೇ ಬೇಕಾದ ಸತ್ಯ ವಿಚಾರ ಇದಾಗಿದೆ.
ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆಯ ಕೆ ಪಿ ವೀರಪ್ಪನವರಿಗೆ 9 ಜನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಆರು ಜನ ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳು ಉಳಿದಂತೆ ಮೂರು ಜನ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಇಂತಹ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಪೋಷಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆ.ಪಿ.ವೀರಪ್ಪ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಭ್ಯನಾಗರಿಕನಾಗಿ ಬದುಕಿ ಬಾಳುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿರುವುದು ಕೆ.ಪಿ.ವೀರಪ್ಪನವರ ದೃಡ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪ ಗಳ ಸ್ವಾವಲಂಬಿ ಬದುಕಿನ ಕಾಯಕವೇ ಕೈಲಾಸ ಎಂಬ ಸರ್ವಜ್ಞರ ನಾಣ್ಣುಡಿಯಂತೆ ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆ ಗೆ ಅಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದ ಒಂದೇ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ನ್ಯಾಯಬೆಲೆ ಅಂಗಡಿಯನ್ನು ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕವಾಗಿ ಜನಗಳಿಗೆ ಪಡಿತರ ಧಾನ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಾನೇ ಸ್ವಯಂ ವಿತರಿಸುತ್ತ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯಬೆಲೆ ಅಂಗಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ವೀರಪ್ಪನವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗೌರವಗಳು ಮೂಡುವಂತೆ ಕಳೆದ ಐವತ್ತು ಅರವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ನಿರಂತರ ಶ್ರಮ ಜೀವಿಯಾಗಿ ಬದುಕಿನ ಜಟಕಾ ಬಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ಎಳೆಯುತ್ತಾ ಎಂದೂ ಬೇಸರಪಡದೆ ಸದಾ ಹುಮ್ಮಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ 99ರ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲೂ ಕಾಯಕ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಾಯಕ ಯೋಗಿ ಕೆ ಪಿ ವೀರಪ್ಪನವರು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲ ಅಂತೆಯೇ ಒಬ್ಬ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಕ. ಹಿತಚಿಂತಕ ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ನಿದರ್ಶನಗಳಿವೆಯಾದರೂ ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾದ ಕೆಲವು ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿವೆ.
ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ KSRTC ಬಸ್ ನಿಲುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ಹೋರಾಟ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು. ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್, ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ನಿವಾರಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ ,ರಾಜ್ಯ ,ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆ.ಪಿ.ವೀರಪ್ಪ ಅಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋರಾಟ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅಂಚೆ ಕಚೇರಿ ನೇಮಿಸಲು ಕಾರಣೀಭೂತರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆಯ ದಿವಂಗತ ಎಂ.ಸಿದ್ದಪ್ಪನವರ ಜೊತೆ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಹೋರಾಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆಯ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಶ್ರಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಗಾರಿಕೆಯ ದಿವಂಗತ ಟಿ.ಎಂ.ಪಂಪಯ್ಯ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯವರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಚುನಾವಣೆಗೆ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸಿ ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿರುವ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರ ಅಂದಿನ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ ಹೋರಾಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ವೀರಪ್ಪನವರು ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡು ಬಳ್ಳಾರಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರರೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಡಿದು ನೆನಪಾಗಿ ಉಳಿದಿದ್ದು ಅಂದಿನ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರ ಕೆ.ಪಿ.ವೀರಪ್ಪನವರು ಈಗಲೂ ಕಣ್ಣ ಮುಂದೆ ಆರೋಗ್ಯವಂತನಾಗಿರುವುದು.
ಕೆ.ಪಿ.ವೀರಪ್ಪನವರ ಸನ್ಮಾಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಮಾಡಿದ ಪೂರ್ವಜನ್ಮದ ಸುಕೃತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದ ಮಕ್ಕಳೇ ನೀವು ಧನ್ಯರು. ವೀರಪ್ಪನವರು ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆಯ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನಿವೇಶನ ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಕುಮಾರಿ ಈಶ್ವರೀ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಇವರಿಗೆ 9 ಸೆಂಟ್ಸ್ ನಿವೇಶನ ದಾನವಾಗಿ ನೀಡಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಉದಾರತೆಯನ್ನು ಮೆರೆದ ಹಿರಿಯ ಸಮಾಜ ಜೀವಿ. ಇವರ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಾ ಭಾವನೆಯನ್ನು ಮನಗಂಡು 1954ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದಿನ ಮೈಸೂರು ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಗೃಹ ಮಂತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಸಿದ್ದಿವೀರಪ್ಪನವರು ತೆಕ್ಕಲಕೋಟೆಯ ಕೆ.ಪಿ.ವೀರಪ್ಪನವರ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದು ಸ್ವಯಂ ಪ್ರಶಂಸೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಗೌರವ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರಂತೆ.
